How Do I Submit My Resume To Local Companies?

I have over 5 years clerical support experience. I know not every company is submitting job positions to monster, yahoo jobs and ETC. There are several businesses near my home. How to do submit my resume to smaller companies close to home. Is it appropriate to call and ask if they are hiring for anything clerical? Do I walk them in? Call and get the hr email address? Call and ask for fax number?

You can send your resume by post or by courier to the local companies. Please do not attempt to meet them, unless called, as that will create an impression that you are in dire need of a job !!
Even local businesses may rely on online career portals to find candidates for employment. So, it’s a good idea to submit and revise the resumes at career portals.
You may also walk into the companies in your area and try to give your resume to the person (not necessarily from HR, sometimes it may be good to avoid HR!) responsible for hiring.
If that’s not possible, give it to whoever speaks to you and don’t forget to collect the contact info of the person who hires and or of the HR. If you don’t hear from the company, call them and see if they have any opportunities. Good luck.

If you are interested in a local company walk in and ask to speak with the person who does their hiring. Let them know what your looking for, give them your resume, let them know your interested if anything comes up in the future. Good Luck.
