How Do You List Freelance Jobs On Your Resume?

January 18, 2010 by career

I resigned from a job over a year ago but I have had several freelance jobs since. I am currently looking for a job but I don’t have any of my freelance positions listed on my resume so it seems as if I haven’t done anything in the past year. How would I list the freelance positions on my resume? Thanks in advance.

When you have worked as a freelancer, why not list it on the resume? Use an appropriate job title based on the work you have executed. Examples: Freelance Graphic Designer, Freelance Writer, or Freelance Programmer.

Describe it as “self-employed” and list some of the projects or companies you worked for to show you have actually been working. They just don’t want to see a big gap without an explanation.
