How Important Is A Resume In This Situation? Could I Get Away With Just An Email?

I am a freshman in college and am looking for an off campus job. I’m using my schools job search site for something simple and found a job opening at a nearby golf course to work in the kitchen as a dishwasher. There is a link to email a resume, but I don’t have a resume and was wondering if it would be acceptable to email my interest in the job and ask for an interview? What should I do? I really have no idea what to do for a resume.. thanks!

I can’t believe anyone would require a resume for a dish washing job. That’s absurd.
I would just email the cover letter. Attach it like a resume. If you’ve worked other places, especially fast food, you would want to include those as your experience.
The country club is obviously having problems keeping someone in that menial job. Guess most folks work a couple of days and quit because of the type of work it is. So they are looking for someone who can say by their experience, “I know what this job entails and I have a track record for not quitting.”
What else would you want in a dish washer besides dependability?

I say create a resume quick. It’s easy! Just look online for an example, then fill in your info, basically just put your goal or objective (which is probably obtaining work that fits with your school hours), your experience (esp that which is relevant to the job you are applying for) and your education.
No need to embellish, just be simple and straight-forward. It’ll give you experience for later when you will actually need one anyway!
