How To Escape From Resume Filter When Applying For Job?

November 8, 2009 by admin

I idiotically lost a job interview a couple of months ago. I applied again but they rejected it saying they have their resume on file and that I can’t apply for the job again till one year from the date of the last interview. They have software which automatically compares a resume submitted with the resumes in their database. Has anyone been cunning enough to modify resume in ways that the resume filter software can’t identify as duplicate? I desperately need to apply for that job.

As a professional recruiter, I have a couple of questions that need to be clarified.
1 Are you applying for the exact same position as before?
2 Are you applying for a different position than the first one?
3 What was the reason they gave you for turning you down the first time?
If you are applying for the same job again, I would say you have a problem, but if its a different position with the same company; most companies will accept the resume and consider it just like they would for anyone who has never applied there before. Most companies and large corporations will consider you if you go to the HR Manager and explain that you are applying for a different position this time.
If the reason they did not accept you the first time was because of something like a criminal background, or mental problems or something, then they will turn you down again. You need to find out why they turned you down the first time. Then go talk to the HR Manager or Director and explain your situation. But first find out why they turned you down originally.

Sorry you can’t without lying on your resume, in which case you will be found out and could be in serious trouble. They usually have 5 matching criteria which is used by the software. Depending on the country the position is in it could be first name, surname, date of birth, qualifications, email address. So as you can see you would have to in effect lie about your identity. So wait the year if you want that job or apply for another job.
    Good luck
