What Type Of Writing Sample Should I Send With A Resume?

I am applying for an Administrative Assistant position and they are requesting a cover letter, resume and writing sample. What should I send as a writing sample? I recently did some papers in school, should I send one of those graded writing papers? Thanks.

A graded paper is probably fine, although a work-related memo or other work-related document would probably be better. Have you ever done any kind of company newsletter, press release or letter? Maybe a memo for a former employer explaining a new company program or benefit?
Basically, they’re trying to make sure you have good enough writing (and they don’t mean handwriting – they mean spelling, grammar, etc)skills that you’ll be able to communicate effectively in the job – so make sure whatever you send is perfect in terms of spelling and grammar.

Your graded paper may be fine. And if you don’t yet have any writing examples from a job, I would suggest creating a few and label them as fictitious / spec work. They probably just want to be sure you can write well.
My suggestions would be to write: an internal memo and a business letter. That should give them a good idea of your writing skill.

Yes. It’s okay to send graded writing papers especially if it is in your own handwriting. Perhaps they have a graphologist who reviews handwriting samples to determine various characteristics.
    Good luck!

I would contact the company to find out if they prefer a writing sample in a specific style or of a certain length.
